Hillsboro Dec 7 - Austin D. Sumner, a resident of this place for the last 40 years and well known in Montgomery County, died at his home here tonight after an illness dating from a stroke of paralysis suffered three years ago. Mr. Sumner had been engaged int he hardware business for 25 years at this place. Until his illness three years ago he enjoyed the best health.

Mr. Sumner was born 67 years ago at Pleasant Hill, what is now the town of Wingate. He spent a part of his youth in Crawfordsville and later moved to Hillsboro. He was the son of Selby and Emma Sumner. He was married June 17, 1875, to Miss Jennie Coons, a young school teacher. They made their residence at this place.

He is survived by his widow and two children, Fred Sumner of Danville, Ill and Mrs. Harry Johnstone of Fairfield, In. A sister, Mrs. Ada Bailey of Brookstone, Ind also survives.

Although he suffered a stroke of paralysis three years ago Mr. Smmner has been able to be about until recently. He suffered a second stroke, Monday Nov 30 and since that time his condition has been critical. He suffered a third stroke last Friday which left him helpless. Since Friday his condition has been serious and his recover was not expected.

His death occurred shortly before 8 o'clock tonight. Funeral arangements have not yet been made - kbz
